Winter School on Evidence Synthesis

The Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis Winter School (SRMAWS) teaches participants how to independently conduct a systematic review with subsequent meta-analysis. This two-week, research-based course takes place from 02.02.2026 to 12.02.2026 at UZH.

A systematic review is a structured summary of the literature on a specific research question using explicit, transparent methods. The course covers all key steps: formulating a review question, protocol development and registration, comprehensive literature searches, study screening using dedicated software, data extraction, critical appraisal (risk of bias), synthesis of findings, and meta-analysis. Participants will also learn how to report and publish their results, and the use of AI tools in the review process will be addressed.

Thus, participants gather the necessary material and skills to complete their reviews independently after this hands-on program. It is open to Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students in life sciences from any Swiss university (with priority given to UZH students) who wish to strengthen their skills in evidence-based decision-making and research synthesis.
